African Family: Part 21

...When the rain finally stopped, I went back home and this time, it was Emmanuel who opened the gate...
I told him how Favour made me to soak in the rain
"That girl is wicked" I said, but he didn't reply
He only chuckled silently.
Thankfully, I didn't fall sick afterwards...I wrote my exams the next day and celebrated my freedom from exams for the term by playing football before dad came to pick me
Also, my ban on watching tv had been lifted and luckily for me, there was power supply throughout the evening
I could only hope that I was able to pass dad's challenge of coming out top of the class, although I knew it was almost impossible
Nonetheless, I still had to go to school in order to prepare for the prize giving day.
I was once called to take up the role of a hoodlum in the drama presentation arranged by my class teacher, I had no choice than to accept it...
I started practising my lines in class and when I was home, I side same in my room...
"Hey!! Wida! Who goes you?" I practised while walking to one side with my trousers sagged...
Just then my mum walked into my room
"Victor, what are you doing?" She asked
I immediately straightened myself and pulled up my trousers...
"Erm... I'm... I'm rehearsing for the drama presentation we are doing in school" I explained
"Drama presentation ehn? Which kind of drama is that that will make you to be sagging in my house?" She asked
I knew where she was heading and I looked down at the floor
When I hesitated to talk, she requested to see the script I was holding...
"Victor, so they asked you to act as a hoodlum and you agreed? Ehn?" She seemed more to exclaim than ask
I kept mute...
"Let this be the first and last time you do such, and also sag your trousers in my house, understood?"
"Yes"
"When you get to school tomorrow, tell your teacher to give you a better role or better still, remove you from the drama" she ordered and I nodded.
I thought the matter had ended until when we were having our night prayers and mum called me out...
"Victor come and kneel down here, let us pray against any hoodlum spirit and spirit of uselessness that the enemy wants to plant in your life"
...TBC...
